Here is the educational part: I have no idea why this information isn't widespread in the US, but decades ago, DECADES, Germans stopped using the word Fräulein. It's inappropriate and impolite to use it.

How can we use an 'Adventskalender' for German learning?
Using an Adventskalender is great for German learning because it forms a meaningful practice, just as joyful anticipation can for those who use an Adventskalender as a religious practice. You have 24 or 25 short exercises and you get to focus on one thing all month long.
And if you're not religious, then it's simply "25 days of ______." And that works really well, too, to see how you do with trying something for 25 days. Ask my clients--they do this every year, whether they are religious or not, whether they celebrate Christmas or not.
