This year a bunch of you set a new goal for 2018 in terms of German learning. This is your final check-in. Juhu!
So go find that dusty goal sheet that you printed out and that got lost under another pile of papers...and let's get some perspective.
If you put in some time with German this year, I'd like you to stop and give yourself a pat on the back.
Yes, really. Just reach up your hand and pat yourself on the shoulder. Yep, just like that.
Whatever you did with German this year, I'm glad you did it! Can you give it a percentage in how much you accomplished that goal? Maybe it's only 30%, maybe it's about 72%, maybe it's only somewhere around 50%. Here are a few thoughts for you depending on where you are on that percentage scale.
If you accomplished your goal 100%, I hope you have a great feeling of accomplishment. Gut gemacht!
If you accomplished your goal 50% or more, I hope you have a great feeling of accomplishment. Because a lot of people never even make it that far.
If you accomplished your goal 1% or more, I hope you have a great feeling of accomplishment and that you realize that you have made it further than so many other people who never even tried.
100% of the people who never even tried aren't here. They're still somewhere far behind the starting line, wandering around aimlessly. Those are the people who talk about everything and never take any action. They never google, they never find this site, they never get past talking about German in English. (Wie langweilig.)
100% of you who are here gave it a shot. You tried, you put in some effort and got something out of it.
Ich bin sehr stolz auf Sie.
