In this 12-week class, you and other learners just like you will learn basics of German like introducing yourself, shopping, and exchanging information like phone numbers. We'll meet for one hour on Wednesday evenings beginning June 7 and ending August 30 in a private, online classroom. By the end of this class, you'll be comfortable with the basics.
Who is taking "Comfortable German 1"?
People just like you will be in this class, people who want to try learning German as well as people who have learned it and forgotten it. Everyone is welcome here, so if you're reading this, that means you.
What will I learn?
You'll be learning the basics of German like:
- greeting people and ordering a beverage in a cafe
- asking someone's name and introducing yourself.
- how to ask questions when you're grocery shopping
- how to give your address and phone number
How you learn is just as important: we won't be rushing through all the information. That's pointless. We'll be working on growing your capabilities in German rather than sticking to some curriculum. So if we can go fast, we will. But if the class wants to slow down, we slow down the pace.
When does class meet?
This class will run on Wednesdays from June 7 to August 30. There will be 12 sessions in those 13 weeks and we'll decide together which week we take off.
Where does class meet?
We'll meet in a private, online classroom that's exclusive to this class. Only your class will be there, only your class will write on the board and see the notes. At the end of every session you will receive an email with your homework and a copy of the whiteboard from that session. That way you always know what your homework is.
