This summer: Jump start your AP German learning with Nicole!
The time to start preparing for the 2018 AP German test is now. Use your spare time this summer to prepare for the AP German test so you can get the best possible score.
You'll work on:
1. Techniques for learning vocabulary--make it stick!
You can ask any of my clients--they have fun learning vocbulary. We'll explore the best learning techniques for you, and find the best way to make vocabulary sticky for you. There is no one correct way to learn it, there is only your best way.
This will be one of the first techniques we'll work on so you can start acquiring large amounts of vocabulary in German. Creating this basis will help you in class, in the real world, and on the AP test.
2. Deductive techniques for difficult texts
Reading a text in German can be easy...or it can be extremely difficult. You need to learn how to work through a text in a way that assists you--not overwhelms you. This is another technique I practice regularly with my clients and they've seen great benefit with it.
In just a few steps, you can learn to read and understand texts beyond your current comprehension.
3. Practice writing techniques for formal and informal writing
Writing a formal letter of complaint requires a different skill set from writing an email to a close friend. The AP German test requires multiple modes of written communication, so we'll practice it. You'll write a letter and send it to me, and I'll respond. We'll exchange emails so you get actual practice
And when I correct your emails and letters, you'll receive a positive correction, which shows you what you can do, what you are doing well, and where you can improve--including how to do it! (That's vastly different from a list of things marked wrong.)
4. Listening comprehension techniques
Listening to German speakers with a specific process for listening, which will give you the boost you need to understand a variety of contexts, accents, and topics. One client used the technique I will teach you; she began the listening and understood only 25% of the audio. By the end, she understood 80-85%!
Learn not just for the test, but learn for life. Listening and communicating in German is an extremely valuable skill and I'd be delighted to work with you this summer.

I, Nicole, have a wealth of information and resources, both online and on my computer, to help you learn the most German possible. We'll use a combination of these resources and the AP German site to help prepare you for the test, and also to help you speak German to the best of your ability.
I've taken two AP tests myself, and they were not easy. AP requires time, concentration, and effort--so let's make it as fun as possible!
