Information Collection, Use, and Sharing
I am the sole owner of the information collected on this site. I have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you and information collected through services like Google Analytics and StatCounter.com. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.
I will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. If you opt in for a newsletter, I will use the information to send you information, blog posts, event notices, and other kinds of email marketing. I will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request, e.g. to ship an order.
Your Access to and Control Over Information
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the email address or phone number given on our website (see below):
• See what data we have about you, if any.
• Change/correct any data we have about you.
• Have us delete any data we have about you.
• Express any concern you have about our use of your data.
In order to use portions of this website, a user must first complete the registration form. During registration a user is required to give certain information (such as name and email address). This information is used to contact you about the products/services on our site in which you have expressed interest. At your option, you may also provide demographic information (such as gender or age) about yourself, but it is not required.
At your option, you may provide your CEFR (Common European Framework Reference of Languages) level (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 or C2). This information can be provided during registration for an event and/or during opt in for a mailing list and/or modifying your user information. This information may be used, for example, to help you determine which events you should sign up for.
Orders and Registrations
We request information from you on our order form and event registration forms. To buy from us, you must provide contact information (like name and shipping address) and financial information (like credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to fill your orders. If we have trouble processing an order, we'll use this information to contact you.
We use "cookies" on this site. A cookie is a piece of data stored on a site visitor's hard drive to help us improve your access to our site and identify repeat visitors to our site. For instance, when we use a cookie to identify you, you would not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while on our site. Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site. Use of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information on our site.
This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.
We partner with another party to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.
Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the web page. Currently, this is only when you leave our website to use the PayPal payment options (for lessons or for paid events) and PayPal doesn't share your payment details with us.
While we use encryption, where applicable, to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
This website is hosted in the USA and the email server is also located in the USA.
In compliance with the GDPR, I keep your data private. Whenever you opt in to a mailing list, you must confirm your subscription; that confirmation (known as a double opt-in) provides your consent to marketing emails.
If you opt in to a mailing list, you should be aware that the software used here utilizes tracking and statistics. This includes opens, clicks, geolocation, history, and more.
If you would like to be "forgotten," please do two things:
1. Find your most recent email from me and select "Modify your subscription" to change what information I keep about you for email marketing. You may download and/or delete your user information for email marketing. You may also use the option to "Unsubscribe" in that same email to unsubscribe and refuse all future emails. If you unsubscribe (instead of deleting your own profile), I will delete your email marketing subscription and information within 30 days.
2. Use the contact information at the bottom of this page to make your request that I delete any other information.
Please be aware that financial transactions, like taking lessons, attending an event, or purchasing an eBook, will be kept for a minimum of seven years (for tax reasons). If you have paid for anything via PayPal, the information that you provided to PayPal for the purposes of that transaction falls under their terms and conditions and privacy policies. Should you wish to pay for lessons, an event, or any other purchase without using PayPal, please contact me using the information below.
